ABSTRACT
Tuberculosis is a bacterial disease caused by organisms of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (M. tuberculosis, M. bovis, and M. africanum. It is transmitted primarily by airborne droplet nuclei produced when individuals with pulmonary or laryngeal tuberculosis sneeze, cough, or speak.
The incidence of tuberculosis in those who work with M. tuberculosis in the laboratory is three times higher than the incidence among laboratory personnel who do not work with bacterium.
In this article we have decided to present a few measures of protection specific to the laboratory of bK Mycobacteriology of Victor Babes Clinic Hospital of Infectious Diseases and Pneumophthisiology, Craiova. We have chosen this topic taking into consideration the fact that the laboratory personnel do only bacteriologic tests to detect tuberculosis.
